valve
Hey there. I've played in some grace notes for a lot of the performances in this session I'm working on, but I do not want them to show up in the score for printing. Is there a way to hide individual notes? I can't figure it out. If not that, is there some parameter I'm not seeing that allows me to adjust how Logic interprets the notes, ie. minimum note length shown? Thanks! volovicg
Yes - the quantize parameter in the "SCORE INSPECTOR" allows you to display the smallest note value you want to be visually represented in the score. ( This parameter only affects the score and does not affect playback). So for example, if the smallest not value you want to see is 1/8 note - pick a value 8, 1/32 pick a value of 32, etc. Values that have two numbers separated by a common represent the inclusion of triplet notation - so 4,3 display quarter notes or longer with ability to display 1/2 note triplets. 4,6 would quarter notes or longer with 1/4 note triplets, 4,12 would be 1/4 notes or longer with 1/8th note triplets... valve
Thanks for the response! I gave that a try, but those grace notes in the performance are coming up as part of the same "chord" as the note right after it, so it isn't being seen as a short note. Even if I make that note independent, where it does break away and displays as a 32nd note, it does not hide even though the quantize parameter is set to 8,12. Are there any other workarounds for this?
Eric Cardenas
Control-click on a note and Choose Note Attributes... Set Stem position and Note head to hide. Or setup custom Staff Style with a separate MIDI channel hidden (Note Head, Stem Position, Rest) and set the grace notes to that channel.
valve
Ahaaaa, got it! Thank you both. Setting note head to hide did hide it, but it didn't adjust the accidentals accordingly (there was a big gap between the other note and its accidental). But I set up the Staff Style to Channel 1 only, and set the grace notes to channel 2, and voila, everything is as it should be. Thanks!
