wireless_head
Hi there! We need a low-budget mac comp for recording in logic pro x. There will be approx 10-20 tracks both midi (NI kontakt) and recorded live, processed with waves plugins here are option we have: Early Mac Pro, based on 2х Intel Xeon Quad core 2,33 processors (mac pro 1.1) with plenty of RAM (12GB) Mac mini server MC438 (2010) core 2 duo 2.66 GhZ, 8gb (or 16) Mac Mini core i5 (2011) MC815, 2.3 GhZ, 8Gb Is there a big difference between those regarding processor? Or the main issues here is RAM? Thanx a lot!
triplets
Go to www.everymac.com and compare each model on the Geekbench SC and MC 64 scores. I would go for the newer Mac Mini because of faster Ram speeds.

triplets
But also remember that the Mac Mini might have a 5400 rpm drive, which is not ideal.
wireless_head
Thanx for the tip! What do you think about multicors regarding Logic pro x. DAW is using it actively or not? if we buy this kind of MAC http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_pro/specs/mac-pro-eight-core-2.8-2008-specs.html will it be resonable? It has a lot of power when all of the cores works and is rather weak when uses less
triplets
Yes, the more cores the better. The 2008 8-core is pretty good. If you can afford a 2009 8-core, that would be even better!
