mattrixx
Hi all, Dose anybody know how to setup this new Midi Controllers option correctly? I have my Komplete Kontrol S61 both recognised and checked in the new preference pane, however, it doesn't seem to do anything. Can't find any resources on how to set it up. David Nahmani
If you create a new software instrument track, choose a patch from the library and open the Smart Control pane, aren't your controller's knobs moving the Smart Controls? In case that helps...:
 mattrixx
G'day David. No, nothing happening at all. Weird. It's recognised in the preferences and checked.
 David Nahmani
Open Logic Pro X > Control Surfaces > Controller Assignments and see if you can see the assignments for your Kontrol there?
 mattrixx
Yeah, the "KOMPLETE KONTROL S61" appears in the list there several times (like 9), but its no modes & assignments. Weird. I wonder if I need to reset something.. either on the KKS61, or within logic
 David Nahmani
I would try to completely clear the controller assignments (with the keyboard disconnected), then start Logic again and connect the keyboard. If that doesn't work, try again but this time, quit Logic and trash the control surface preferences: 1) Quit Logic. 2) Trash ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic.pro.cs (you will need to hold down Option as you click the "Go" menu in the Finder to access ~/Library) 3) Open Logic. I've got KKS61 working with transport etc as it always was, with the Komplete Kontrol plugin, but certainly no smart controls when using a stock Logic instrument for example. I wonder if there's some sort of mode that the KKS61 needs to be in for it to be recognised correctly.
 David Nahmani
Maybe that's because you're using the Komplete Kontrol plug-in, and that fights with Logic's controller assignments? Is there a way to quit or turn off that plug-in (I'm not familiar with it)?
 mattrixx
Yes, that's was my line of thinking too. However, even if you remove the the DAW controller from control surfaces setup window and any KompleteKontrol instances in the session, it still does nothing.. Aah well, I'll keep an eye out for other Kontrol61 users and update this thread when I know more. Thanks again David.
 3 weeks later... DECOTE
Hi Guys, Just a very quick note, for S61 users, I did the same and wondered why it wasn't responding, as soon as i opened the Komplete Kontrol plugin it works fine. (transports lit up when i opened KK plugin ). It seems its designed to cooperate with having Komplete Kontrol plug open rather than just using the S61 and logic alone . I have got it working now with the 10.2.3 LPX update and the KK 1.6 update. Took me ages, as I couldn't get it working. Then I discovered the "Automatically Install" preference (which I'd dismissed some time ago with the check box) under the install menu in the controller setup window. You cannot install it manually (as per the old port settings)... It almost looks like it is networked to LPX.
 Arnaud
mattrix, Thanks, interesting stuff indeed. Could you elaborate a bit? Sound like there's an update available of the Komplete Kontrol plug-in, is that what you mean by "KK 1.6"? Besides, could you provide a screenshot of the preference checkbox you talk about, so that I could better visualize where to look for it? So far (from LPX 10.2.1 and 10.2.2) I managed to have my KK S88 keyboard interface with LPX for transports and library items up/down selection (with an open KK plug-in instance, as others mentioned above), but could not interface the keyboards pots w/ LPX smart controls. Maybe it still only works w/ KK s61 models (in LPX 10.2.2 there was a .bundle file only for that model, not for the s88) but at least I'd like to anticipate whether it's worth giving it a try, when I update LPX to 10.2.3. Many thanks in advance. So you need to check that it is automatically scanning for, in this case, OSC devices. Previously, we were instructed to use the "Komplete Kontrol DAW - 1" ports in conjunction with the SSL Nucleus Left module. As seen here. Click for large view - Uploaded with Skitch Where as now, if you allow Logic to do the scan at start up, you will get the following... Click for large view - Uploaded with Skitch Note however, you need to make sure that it is showing up as being in Control Surface Group 1 (shuffling the modules around permits this). Once up and running, you still won't have control of Smart Controls (not sure why, but doesn't list as a feature). However, the following controls will work..... and work really well. https://www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/komplete-kontrol-1-6-1-out-now.271357/ Hope this is of some help.. If Smart Controls are still not mapped with KK's pots, I don't see much change then. With the former plugin version, and in LPX 10.2.2, it's already possible to have LPX auto install the (nucleus left) control surface, with basically the same functionallities as described in the NI release notes (except for a few minor additional key combinations, but this is no big deal). A bit dissappointing then, if that's the case. I'll check this out in due time when I make the LPX update anyway. Thanks again.
