Any way to get the metronome to click w/o hitting record?

AFAIK, you have to hit record in an audio track to get the metronome to click. Is there any way to just get it to click on its own, say if you wanted to get the timing down w/o having to arm a track and hit record?

yes, in the metronome options you can select "click when playing" and/or "click when recording" or nothing at all

Click the Metronome button in the Control bar while Logic is stopped or playing back.

Ot press "K", if you use the default key commands.
