M Robinson
My score defaults to ties as opposed to dotted notes. How am I able to choose which way to notate since they have the same value? Can I edit two tied notes and change them to one dotted note within the score editor?
Eric Cardenas
Depends on the situation but one way to do it is to drop a rest at the point where you want the tie.
M Robinson
Thanks for your suggestion. In my situation, actually, I have a tie and want to turn it into a dotted note! (By the way, I love your little video tutorial. Very cool!)
Eric Cardenas
Right click on the left note and choose Syncopation > Force. You have also a dedicated region parameter for syncopation. This will be the default for the whole region.
M Robinson
Eric-- Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I googled and researched this and could not find an answer. REALLY appreciate your solving this issue for me. I love this forum!

M Robinson
Where is the dedicated region parameter for syncopation? I can't seem to find it.
volovicg
when the score has focus - if you look at the region inspector there is a parameter for syncopation..... This globally affects the region.
M Robinson
Thanks, but I don't see, under the region section, a checkbox for syncopation. I tried to highlight notes within a track first to see if the syncopation option would show up, and it hasn't. still not sure what to do. M Robinson
Actually, I do see it now immediately to the left of the notation. i'll try it now.
Kikonda12
I have the same question. It appears that the Force Syncopation button is no longer in Logic Pro X as of a newer update. Is there another way to turn the beamed notes into dotted notes? Thank you!
volovicg
It’s there Make sure advanced tools are all enabled And the score has focus
Yermun
The trick does not help in 12/8. Anyone?

SergeMeister
Excellent video indeed! Although I started using Logic to AVOID writing notation again...
Yermun
Post a screen shot of what you have and what you want it to look like..... I just found out what was wrong: In Score Editor-->Region - I had set Max.Dots to 0. Therefore no dotten notes were allowed. So turning it to 1 (or even 3 or more) solves the problem. Thanks for replying so fast.
