I have a trumpet library and I want to use the function to switch between the vibrato/non vibrato samples... I don't see anything in the manual about it. Plowman Posted July 18, 2007 Share Posted July 18, 2007 The term "keyswitching" is not used. But EXS does keyswitch. Plug-In Reference, page 567. "Select By." Assign your vibratos to one group, non-vibratos to another. Put both group's "Select by" to "Note:" and then give each group its own trigger note, such as C1 and D1. Now you can keyswitch. I recall translating Garritan Orchestral Strings keyswitches a couple of years ago. I've never owned CDXtract, and you say you've tried Giga Convert within EXS, so it was probably Translator that I used. But I'd confirm that with Chicken Systems before buying Translator. As discussed before, Translator on a Mac is less than ideal. So I'd be extra cautious if you couldn't run it on a PC. Does CDXtract or Giga Convert "set it up" at all, so that you only have to assign the switches? In such cases, I sometimes translate all KS patches, leave them incomplete, and only fix them on a "need to play" basis. But some translations separate not only the articulations, but their velocities as well. That leaves you with a whole lot of groups that defy keyswitching, and we're back to square one. ski Posted July 20, 2007 Share Posted July 20, 2007 I've found that when setting up EXS to do keyswitching that you can't depend on that instrument to "automatically" select the lowest keyswitch you've defined after you load the instrument. So if you set up keyswitching to work (and it does indeed work just fine), make sure that the first event in your track is a keyswitch that sets the EXS to select the sample set you want. If you don't do this there's a good chance that the next time you load your song and hit play for the first time, the EXS will play back the wrong set of samples.
