jonnyrace
Dear All, I have cut up an audio file (take 2) and moved it around a bit. I cut the audio file up at transient points to line them up with another audio file. I now want to reveal the beginnings of each cut, before the transient point. Logic doesn't seem to want me to do this - it does all sorts of weird things with take folders/layers. I've worked out that there's a little scissors button on each audio file and this seems to enable this kind of editing to some extent, but it's still doing inexplicable things...perhaps I can make a video... Many thanks Jonnt
StudioQ1
I feel like you are talking about comping audio regions? I am not an audio guy but I would guess if you want to take all those takes to separate tracks there is a way to do it. Look up a video on logic audio comping and see if that helps? jonnyrace
Many thanks for your reply...I am indeed talking about editing audio. I have worked out the main problem: Logic is not made for that kind of workflow. Logic is intended for making pop music, in which a musician does several takes to perfect a line/part. This is usually done to a grid, and works in a linear fashion. For much more intricate editing within a take, it tries to push you towards flex-time and flex-pitch. The Pro Tools approach is much more linear. PT does deal in layers, but in a much simpler way. In this way, each track is more like a piece of tape. Pro Tools now have created a prohibitive pricing structure (which is a way of getting huge sums of money off their users through monthly subscriptions) and Logic has the opportunity to create a simpler editing mode and get everyone onto Logic! Eric Cardenas
You can unpack the folder to new tracks and do this kind of editing. You can pack it again once you are satisfied if you need additional comping.
