hs jive
Help! I've created a software track and selected a keyboard in the library. I've successfully played notes on the piano roll and recorded them. A week later - it won't record. I've got sound coming out, all the meters move with the sound, the record enable button is selected and illuminated red, I hit record and the rec and play transport keys illuminate and the tape head moves across the track - but no notes are recorded and no region created. I can pencil in notes manually and play them back, but not record in real time from the piano roll.
David Nahmani
Sounds like your Mac may not be receiving any MIDI events when you play your keyboard. To verify this, try using Window > Show Musical Typing and use your computer keyboard to record a few notes: does that work?
hs jive
Show Musical Typing plays but doesn't record notes either. However, if I ignore the vertical piano roll keyboard in the editor (which I was originally using) and select Show Keyboard under the Window menu, this pop up keyboard seems to work and records. Problem solved I think, though I wish I understood what had changed! Thanks so much for your help and time David.
David Nahmani
Choose File > New and open a new empty project template, create 1 software instrument track and choose the Steinway Grand Piano patch in the library. Try to record with the Musical Typing window. Does that work?
hs jive
Will give it a try when I get a few spare minutes. Thanks David
