Sound monitor issues with multiple tracks [SOLVED]

Fatar SL1100 controller (no internal sounds) connected (midi out only) to Motu Microlite connected to K2600R. Motu connected to Apple Logic Pro via USB. K2600R connected to Apollo Twin interface with “balanced TRS cables”. Interface connected to Logic Pro via thunderbolt.

My issues are with setting up multiple tracks with the external Kurzweil K2600R. I create a new track as a software instrument and then change the parameters to an "external stereo instrument". With this one track all is fine and I can see instrument volume and the master volume. The problem is when I set up the second track. After going though the same process the volume indicator and slider on the second track are blank (no green indicator when playing this track) and moving these sliders has no effect on volume. Instead you can see the sound from the second track is being picked up by the first track. When I "reset" the midi the volume indicators suddenly turn on with the second track. I then find that both track 1 and 2 are effected by each others volume sliders. It is almost like they are the same channel. The tracks are on separate midi channels.

Any thoughts? I have tried different combinations with the software and input monitoring but no luck so far.

K2600R connected to Apollo Twin interface with “balanced TRS cables”.

Can you detail the audio cabling from the K2600R to the Apollo Twin?

In the K2600R, did you route the different sounds to different pairs of outputs? Do you have two pairs of outputs cabled into 4 separate inputs on the Apollo?

Hello David.

First of all thank you for your response! No I only have one pair of audio cables from the K2600R to the Apollo. The Apollo I have is the twin so I cannot set up other inputs with standard cables. Is this the issue? If so is the work around to record audio tracks of each part separately so that you are never listening to two live sounds at the same time?

In short: yes... In your current setup situation the overdubbing approach is the only available solution.
