Multipressor with high ratios: An alternative to the Waves L3?

Recommended Posts

There is more to Logic's multi-pressor than just using high ratios.  It will work as an alternative to the L3, but Waves uses a bit more technology to achieve a result that you may not even notice.

Thanks Shiver, I understand that the Multipressor won't be a direct substitute to the L3 but I'd be happy enough with it being just an alternative.

It can effectively do a similar job at high rations as you suggest.  Multiprocessor has an expander built in to each band as well, but you would want to make sure they are not active.

The L3 also has a spacial algorithm for automatic release times and the ability to prioritise certain bands.  This also can't be done in Multiprocessor, all you can really do is manually set all the parameters as best you can and keep comparing with the bypassed signal so you don't overdo it.

You should get a rough approximation of what the L3 does, but it will have a sonically different character.

Sure, thanks for the reply :)
