Drawing Dotted Notes in Midi Editor

Hello,

A while back Logic had the ability to quantize to dotted note values in the midi editor. Now the only way to do dotted notes is with the midi fx arpeggiator but it doesn't put actual midi notes down, or with the score editor which I dislike (no Brush tool)

So my question is, How do I draw dotted midi notes in the midi editor?

I make a lot of hip hop beats and the hi hats use dotted notes a lot of the time, so it can be a bitch to enter them all in with no brush tool for dotted. Anyone have a work around for this?

Thanks in advance

A dotted note is just the value of a note with half it's value added.

Logic Pro has a variety of MIDI editors but I presume you are talking about the Piano Roll editor here.

Logic will remember the length of the latest selected note. Once you create one you can create more simply by clicking on the correct spot.

You can also:

  • Use the brush tool by defining the doted note first and then drawing.
  • Use the Repeat Multiple to create several notes on the fly.
  • Use the step input keyboard.
