Crosshair tool in Hyper Editor

Could anyone describe to me the sequence of steps they use within the HyperEditor to get a line of events to be created with the crosshair tool? I cannot find a sequence of steps that works consistently and I have followed the manual's advice as well as in Sitter's book.

I try click, move mouse, ctrl–click (Sitter). Sometimes this works, most of the time it just shows the magnifying glass for a second.

I try click, move mouse, click. This never works – although this is how it's descrbed in the manual.

I try click, move mouse, then option click (Manual). This works, but then the crosshair is still on and I don't know how to get rid of it without doing more clicks which creates more events.

Maybe I'm overlooking something?

I've always found it acts a bit strange. Im still looking for a good answer.

What i do after drawing the line is just right click, without moving the mouse. I think thats the same as alt+click. Seems to be ok.

I also have right click set as, open tool box, so that may be why it is deselecting the crosshair.

I'd hate to see this thread die away so quickly, especially since I'm really curious to know how others do fades or crescendos in HyperEditor with the Crosshair tool (maybe you guys do it another way?).

Still, I don't know the netiquette here on bumping...

Bumping is fine! I'd rather see people bump their threads than start a new one on the same topic... which makes it frustrating or impossible for future members to search the forum.

Back to the topic:

Click-hold with the marquee tool. While holding, find your start position while looking at the help tag. Once you've found it, let go of the mouse click: your line starts now find your end position. Click if you want to keep going, Control-click to stop the line.
