deckard1
Hi, I have the arpeggiator in Logic X linked to the mod wheel on my MIDI controller to control the rate of the arpeggiator in real-time. When I hit record and start playing on the MIDI keyboard, and adjusting the mod wheel as well, I can hear the rate of the arpeggiator changing in real-time. No problem there. However, when I listen back to the recording the mod wheel adjustments are not even recorded...just the keypad notes I am hitting on the keyboard are recorded. I assume this is operator error on my part. How do I fix this? Thanks.
Jordi Torres
Hi, Unassigned MIDI messages get recorded to regions in Record mode. MIDI messages you assign to parameters via Controller Assignments will be recorded as automation (Region or Track) in either Record or Playback mode, but you need to enable an automation mode (Touch or Latch). deckard1
Thank you. So enable 'Latch' (I prefer Latch to Touch) while recording? Is that it?
Jordi Torres
Yeah. You're welcome. J.
deckard1
Will give it a go. Never in a million years would I have figured that one out. Thanks again.
deckard1
Yeah. You're welcome. J. What should I do after recording mod wheel adjustments with 'Latch' engaged? Put it back to 'Read' on playback? Still not working. Is this correct? Thanks.
Jordi Torres
What should I do after recording mod wheel adjustments with 'Latch' engaged? Put it back to 'Read' on playback? If you're done with your automating you can just set it back to "Read", yes. Still not working. Is this correct? Screen Shot 2017-03-18 at 7.29.21 PM.png There's nothing to set up in automation Preferences for this to work. Did you actually assign your modwheel to the Arpeggiator's rate? J. deckard1
Thanks! Works now. The problem was I was doing this: Instead of doing this: Is that what you were asking and pointing out? Thanks.
deckard1
Also, is it possible to not have only the set divisions for the arpeggiator's rate...so the rate can be 'random' and not just, for example, 1/8, 1/16 triplet, 1/32, etc.???
