Hi all.  I'm getting a low C-2 note grumbling along while using synths in Logic.  Where in the world is this coming from?  i can't figure it out.  In the past I've had it where it was a high squealing note but now it's low and grumbling.

After I record I'll go ahead and delete them all but what can I do to find the source of this?  It has happened using ES2 and Retro synth.

thanks

You need to find out which of your MIDI hardware is sending the C-2, and then turn it off on that controller. And if you can't turn it off, just put a transformer filtering C-2 in your environment.

Thanks.  I'm starting to use Logic more now but only really know basic control.  Where do I find what is sending what?  Where is filtering in the MIDI environment?

Would picking a unused MIDI channel for my MPK be the best filter?  Or might the offender possibly be set to OMNI?

thanks again for your help

I don't know where you C-2 is coming from, but I know that note is often used to control the recording light on external hardware. So, does one of your hardwares have a recording light? If so, go through its manual and turn it off, or, if you can't find how to turn it off: in the environment, create a transformer, set it op to filter C-2 note, and cable it after the physical input but before the sequencer input in the environment.

To open the environment window: cmd-8.

Then: go to the Clicks & Ports layer:

Create a Transformer:

Doubleclick the Transformer and set it up like this:

Finally, cable it something like this (you can also insert it before the monitor object, so you can check there are no more C-2's coming through):
