earthtrip
Hi all - I just recently bought an X-Touch and am using it with great success with Logic Pro X 10.3.1 I've been reading through Apple's Logic Control Surface documentation to get a better understanding of what's possible (it's pretty amazing how deep the integration is for Logic!) and have a question regarding the programmable user mode section (I can't find Logic Pro X docs online but this info is the same as what's in iBooks for 10.3.1). So my hope is that putting the control surface into say User Mode 1 that I can then assign things like F1-F8 to do whatever key commands, etc that I want to program them to do (in my case I'd like to have those function keys do editing related tasks like splitting region at playhead, etc) and then when I want to get back to my mixing flow just leave User Mode 1 and return to the default settings. Alas it doesn't seem to work exactly like that and maybe I'm just dreaming of something that doesn't exist. The documentation is quite confusing as it jumps you over to the controller assignment section which is one part that leaves me a bit baffled as to how it works. Anyway I was hoping someone could either confirm that my theory of how this might work is correct and possibly point me in the right direction or tell me it's totally not possible and it's simply a single 1 button of Shift-Track say that does one thing only so I don't waste my time trying to find a feature set that doesn't exist. Again I was hoping that a "programmable user mode" means that all the buttons, faders, v-pots on the surface drive different functionality when in a particular user mode. The reason I have that hope is that when I'm User mode 1 certain parts of the X-touch like V-pots don't seem to do anything. The reason I doubt it is that the function keys and faders DO do things in user mode 1. Thanks for any advice! Mike
