Best Latency setting 10.3.1

'Best' would be to direct monitor via your audio interface, i.e. near zero latency.  That's my preference, but then i use an external amp and effects pedals so am easily able to do this.

If you have to use software monitoring however (i.e. using Logic/Third party amp sims etc) then personally anything over 10ms i really do start to notice, particularly if i've just been playing direct.  But it's all quite subjective as to the BPM and style of music obviously.  I've seen other people record at 20ms and they don't notice it.

On top of that, i would always use the low latency function in Logic to ensure that no additional plugins are increasing the latency also while recording guitar, and then disable it after.

Maybe explaining why you've asked the question may be more beneficial to you?  i.e. are you experiencing latency issues right now, or audio drop-outs?

Thanks for the reply. No Drop outs I'm a newB as you can tell. I don't have powered spkers they go thru an old Denon tuner receiver  my daw is MOTUUltra lite mk3 thats plunged into the back of my Mac via firewire and main outs in back of MOTU go into Denon. Where is Direct Monitoring located at and the little window with Samples what should that be at?

Direct Monitoring comes with the CueMix software on the Ultralite. Don't sweat it.

Just see if your computer can handle a 32 buffer in Logic's Audio preferences when you record. If you get system overloads go to 64.

Don't record with a high buffer like 256, which introduces latency.
