I write classical music, and I just wrote a passage where a long solo line was to be passed around among several instruments, but it was easiest to write on the track of the instrument with the greatest range. By arranging to have the tracks vertically adjacent, it would make it very easy to select and move the notes to whichever instrument they belong to as the last thing.
