Wiping Hard Drive. Help with downloaded sound files

Hi all. Having issues with my MacBook not going to sleep. Have exhausted all of a Apple's support options. They have determined that it something in my OS and likely to be in a backup file too.

So, I know where all the sound files are. If I copy that to an external drive before formatting the HD how can I "trick" Logic and main stage into seeing that I have all the additional content? Is it as simple as putting them back in the application support folder while. It on wifi and then start logic?

Thanks for reading.

Content exists in a number of places, and if you're not sure where content is stored on your system be wary. I'd recommend imaging the complete drive to another drive, then you always have a full copy of your old system to go back to.

If you don't do this, then after you format, you'll always have "Oh I forgot about these files on my old system I needed" and it's too late to retrieve them - if you mirror your drive, you can *always* get everything off.

Additional: Don't try and copy 50GB+ over wifi. It will take all night...
