marklawuk
Hello, I'm stumped. Is there an easy to export a comped track from one project and import it intact with all its takes into another? I record vocals / guitars on my MacBook Air in one location and a friend arranges them on his more powerful Mac at another location. We've had big problems doing this and can't find any online resources to help us. Any suggestions?
marklawuk
Hi All, Does the stunning silence on this topic mean: It's really easy, what a stupid question? or It can't be done. We've tried dragging the track(s) from one LPX project into another but it causes the top end Mac we're using to freeze up. All suggestions / contributions welcome! Eriksimon
Dragging tracks between two open projects may seem like the right approach, but in Logic PX it isn't. You need to use the "import data and settings" function, also known as selective track import. The beauty of this import function is that you do not need to open the donating project, only the receiving project. So, open the receiving project, then follow the instructions on importing data from other projects from the manual: http://help.apple.com/logicpro/mac/10.3/#/lgcpce085447
danyg
hi there, you're talking of two different issues here. 1. Organising and transferring tracks is a craft and there's no quick trick and it depends on your routing. If you stay inside Logic you can use the browser on the right side. Go to "All files" click on your song and then on import... select the tracks you want. 2. your Computer freezes... that's another thing, has nothing to do with transferring files
Eriksimon
2. the freezing... the problem with having two projects open is that Logic has to restart coreaudio every time you switch projects; this restarting of coreaudio may cause freezing, or, more likely, it seems like freezing because in larger projects it may take up to several minutes to restart coreaudio (all used effects and all used samples will be loaded from scratch into the project, and into RAM).
