Trying to use my Yamaha Keyboard as a MIDI controller

I was trying to use my keyboard as a MIDI controller as I was told I would be able to do at Guitar Center. I have an audio interface, a midi cable that I have Midi out for my Keyboard and Midi in on my interface, but I do not know how to set this up in Logic Pro. I am an absolute beginner and all I want to do is use my Yamaha instead of the MacBook keyboard to record the sounds on Logic, if possible.

If your audio interface has MIDI perhaps you need to have a driver for it. Check for Downloads for your specific audio interface on the manufacturer's website.

There are a lot of "absolute beginner" videos on YouTube, video may be more helpful than text. You will also be interested to download the Logic Pro User Manual into iBooks and read the first chapters attentively.

For the rest, once your cable is in good condition and you have needed driver(s) for your hardware Logic will reognize everything and route the notes that you play to an instrument track.
