Then turn off longer, then on.

I’m only half joking, because most of the times that I do an OS update where I have to restart my Mac, my keyboard doesn’t work. Restarting does not fix. Off and on again does not fix. But - if I turn it off for 20 minutes or so, then on - fixed.

That is what is called cold rebooting…
