Which latency compensation mode to select when direct monitoring?

Recommended Posts

I am a bit confused between "Plugin latency compensation" and "Low latency mode" options. At the moment, for me Software monitoring is OFF, I monitor through my USB Interface, and this is my setting when recording:

Plugin latency compensation is set to: ALL

Low-latency mode: UNSELECTED

All plugins are on, even on output and buses

Is this correct for recording with direct monitoring, or I should select "Audio and software instrument tracks" at the compensation mode instead? I do have plugins on the output and some buses. When recording I do not set any plugins OFF manually, just select "ALL" as compensation mode and record. Is this a problem when direct monitoring?

Secondly, what is the use of the "Low Latency Mode" when you already have one of the two compensation modes selected? I see actually no use of it in that case, as a compensation will already be done. Especially when direct monitoring.
