Folders not playing back correct takes and making humming and popping sounds

Recommended Posts

Hi there! I was wondering if someone could help me.

This week, I started running in to a strange issue in Logic Pro X 10.4.1.

I'm currently running on an iMac Pro using High Sierra 10.13.6 (8-core and 64 gb of ram). I recently switched to a UAD Apollo Twin interface.

When I've recorded a bunch of vocals and am selecting various takes inside the folder, the correct takes are not playing back. What I hear is inconsistent every time I play back. I press the space bar to listen to the combination of takes I've selected from the folder, but it's different every time. I'll select a vocal that I like in the row of takes, but the sound doesn't change. It gets stuck on particular takes and will randomly change the takes, which makes it impossible to select the right vocal takes that I want.

In addition to that, I'm hearing strange hums, clicks and pops when going through vocal folders. I tried changing the buffer size, but that hasn't helped. The problem keeps coming back. I'm wondering if this is an issue with my interface or with logic pro x.

All of my software and hardware is up to date. I'm beginning to think that the Apollo twin is not suited to work with logic pro x and that maybe the issue is with having to use a thunderbolt 2-3 dongle.

Thanks in advance for your help!
