LogicIsDoomed
I upgraded to Catalina 10.15.5 yesterday. And generally speaking a bunch stuff of stuff just stopped working: including things like trying to open various panes in prefernces contraol panel, constant verification pop ups with progress bars when trying to open app, open files or throw filesi n the trash (constant and extremely annoying).... also app statups and lots of things are really dragging and very sluggish. Many apps locking when opening. Apps locking up after opening. Can't dismiss screensavers after they startup. ETC ETC. LOGIC 10.5: Won't finish booting up, after validating hundreds of plugins (waves, etc) it gets stuck about 80% of the way thru verification. I moved all my plugins to desktop. Only then will Logic 10.5 open. QUESTIONS: 1) Is anyone here getting ROCK SOLID ZERO PROBLEMS performance between Catalina 10.15.5 in general??? 2) Is anyone here getting ROCK SOLID ZERO PROBLEMS performance between Logic 10.5 and Catalina 10.15.5? To me Catalina 10.15.5 seems to be worse than a NIGHTMARE OF ELM STREET.
rAC
No problems with Catalina, not really using Logic 10.5 much yet, 10.4.8 seems solid.
fisherking
am doing (mostly) fine here; waiting for one plugin to be updated to work with logic 10.5. otherwise... rock solid. try installing the combo updater for catalina. put the components back where they belong! if you need them, they need to be in the right place. make sure all your plugins are up-to-date, that's important. reinstall logic, and/or trash it's preferences file first. run disk first aid. reset nvram, the smc. make sure logic pro x is checked in system preferences>security & privacy>privacy>microphone. turn off the screensaver! it's 2020, you don't need it. hard to tell from here what's happening... and, it shouldn't be so complicated; sometimes it is. good luck! Studio162A
Validating that 3rd party plugins are approved for Catalina is critical. Delete those that aren't. Doing so made a huge difference in my upgrade experience. Jim
