AllTheButtons
I have some existing midi automation for the mod wheel on a synth (midi cc 1) but I would like to add to it using Trim or Relative mode, so my new curves combine with the old ones. Is this possible, or does it only work for track automation?

AllTheButtons
Not possible, only for track automation. Thanks. Shame - now I have to try and do a really complex set of moves that could otherwise be done with two simple ones!
David Nahmani
Wait, what is your mod wheel controlling?
AllTheButtons
Wait, what is your mod wheel controlling? Oh hang on, I see what you're getting at! It's opening up a bunch of filters etc on a synth preset. But I can just work out which parameters are assigned to the mod wheel and assign them to something else. You're a genius! Yes, you can learn them using Logic's Control Surface learn command to record them as automation, or you can map them to Smart Controls and learn the Smart Control to your mod wheel then record that as track automation. Sadly this doesn't seem to work. After much experimentation it seems that Trim/Relative automation ONLY work with volume and pan. Anything else and it just overwrites.
