Which track needs quantized and why?

So, I decided to a what you might call a “re-edit” (don’t know if that’s the same as a “remix”, anyway.....

 

I loaded in a dance track that I liked but I wanted to re-edit it with some vocal samples and synth lines etc. This was a track off Beatport - a commercially available and I’m sure perfectly edited and mixed track. I tried adding a vocal sample from the Apple loops library but they are out of synch.

I’m sure the Apple loop must be perfectly produced and I’m also sure the songs timing is also good.

 

I understand I’m going to be using quantizing here but I’d like to understand why they are out of synch in the first place and my guess would be that the song itself would be the thing that needs quantizing....but why?

When you imported the song into Logic, did you match Logics tempo to the tempo of the song?

Hey Des.....I really can’t remember, I may have been too impatient to jump in to try some ideas and overlooked the obvious in the process - gonna jump on that now.....thank you Des, much appreciated.
