jimslaton
I'm getting this error in Logic Pro X 10.3.0 (Disk is too slow or System Overload) and I'm not even running that many tracks. I have changed the I/O Buffer size, adjusted the multithreading, turned off reWire & more. I have even "Freeze" all the tracks except the one I'm working on. I've made sure nothing is open on the computer except Logic and have even restarted the computer several times. My Os drive is an SSD and the drive where I store Logic Pro project files is on a separate SSD. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this? I have done all the obvious stuff that is recommended online. Thanks in advance. triplets
Most likely a 3rd party plugin that is creating your issues. When you click on the CPU meter in Logic and the performance window pops out, do you have one core spiking when the overload happens. jimslaton
I don't think so. Here is a screenshot showing the CPU meter before & after overload crash... https://imgur.com/a/RuGCUMH
triplets
Why do you have Freeze engaged with an i9? No need for that.
jimslaton
When I first started getting the overload message I researched online how to keep this happening and Freezing tracks were one of the things they recommend. However, I'm still crashing with most of the tracks froze.
triplets
Have you tried updating Logic? 10.3 is pretty old for Mojave. You can create a copy of the app first to have a backup.
jimslaton
I updated Logic Pro X 10.5.1 and everything is still the same. I constantly get overload warnings and everything stops. I close all apps except Logic. I've tried "Freezing" all the tracks except the one I'm working on. I'm not even running that many tracks. I have changed the I/O Buffer size, adjusted the multithreading, turned off reWire & more. Nothing helps even though I'm on a brand new iMac with i9 processor and 64 GB Ram and I'm using all SSD drives. Can anyone help?
triplets
How are those SSDs formatted? APFS or something else?
JakobP
If you disconnect your external ssd's and run the project from your internal ssd, is the problem the same ? EDIT Triplets was quicker...
jimslaton
Yes, I have the same content cloned on HHDs and it does the same. At first, all my logic content was on HHD drives and when I first started having this issue I assumed my HHD drives were too slow so I bought SSDs but it still the same. The operating system has an SSD and all the content has its own SSD. Edited July 25, 2020 by jimslaton
jimslaton
Both SSDs are formatted to Mac OS Extended (Journaled), the same like all my hard drives... https://ibb.co/mcLdQbL https://ibb.co/dm1t8MG
triplets
Does the project have any 3rd party plugins?
jimslaton
I just went through the whole project track by track and there are no 3rd party plugins. All the tracks have been bounced to audio a long time ago.
triplets
Is it only this project or every project you have that gives you the overload?
jimslaton
All projects.
triplets
What about restarting? Or logging out and back in?
JakobP
I was suggesting you try run your projects without any external drives connected, to rule out those as the culprit.
jimslaton
Restarting and logging out and back in changes nothing.
jimslaton
I'll see if moving my content on HD will change anything

triplets
Ok. Let's try to be methodical here. With the computer specs you have you shouldn't have these issues. There's obviously something in your setup that's creating this. New project, one track, you record something. Overloads? If you do, then there's something going on with your drives. No? Start adding 3rd party stuff, make it more involved for the CPU and the drives Look at the floating CPU and I/O meter. Gotta find the culprit. jimslaton
I have multiple DAWs on my system including live, Reason & new Wave Tracktion. I have built the same project with all the same VST & Instruments and none of the other DAWs have this issue. I would prefer to use Logic Pro X but this is frustrating. rAC
Frustrating it might be but if you want to solve it you need to try the troubleshooting steps suggested by triplets.
jimslaton
I’m doing everything suggested, always do.
rAC
So does recording one track only work or do you get overloads?
