ben37
It first crashed after I put a .component of a free plugin ( https://vst4free.com/plugin/1844/ ) into the Mac HD/library/audio/plugins/components folder, bypassing the "app is from an unidentified developer" warnings via the mac security system prefs screen. Tried restarting, removing said .component, trashing it, etc. I can't make any sense of the crash reports. To be clear, Logic does not crash while IN a project, it crashes when I try to open the application. It looks like it crashes after "scanning for third party plugins" or something like that is displayed. What's the fix for this, reinstalling logic? All my projects are protected on external drives. triplets
Maybe delete the audio units cache? And make sure no other file/folder from that plugin. Also check the VST folder in Plugins, just in case.
ben37
Thanks, tried that, no dice. No sign of that plugin anywhere. Beginning to think it's not related to that plugin.
triplets
Well, one thing you gonna have to do now is take out all the component files out of the folder and see if Logic starts up. Major drag but it's the start of troubleshooting. Then start putting back each one until Logic crashes.
ben37
Thanks for the idea. With the components folder empty (components moved temporarily to the trash), logic still crashed.
triplets
Maybe trash the preferences. Do you use controllers as well?
ben37
You mean the .plist files in Library>Preferences? User or Computer Library? Or Both?
triplets
The plist in the User Library.
ben37
That worked!! But now Logic thinks we're meeting for the first time. All my custom key commands are gone...
