Can't record tracks (noob question)

Hey there all. I'm just getting started with LPX. Failing at the first hurdle here. Cannot seem to record some simple instrument track. Anything I should be checking? Audio sources or something? Something I'm not realizing I need to do?

It looks like Logic is not receiving any MIDI. How is your MIDI controller connected exactly? Try to use the Musical Typing Window?

 

Also I would recommend you choose Logic Pro X > Preferences > Advanced Tools and enable all advanced options.
