HH open and close issue

When I create a drum track (Ultrabeat) I run into problems with the open and close hats, the open hats seems to not close when the next closed hat activates. My process is 1. create the beat in Ultrabeat 2. drag the pattern to a the drum track. 3 right click (mac) the midi region and choose "Separate by note pitch" which then separates all drum pieces. 4. duplicate one of the (just separated) drum tracks [so I can control all drum pieces individually]. Once I duplicate the tracks the closed hat no longer closes the open hat sound. The open hi hat will trigger, but will not closed with the next closed hat. Any direction would be appreciated!

Do you really need different channel strips for open and closed hihat ? If you don't separate the hihats onto different instances of ultrabeat, the hihat will work as normal...

I think the OP after effectively 2 high hats so that playing a closed one doesn’t choke the open one, maybe ghost1230 will tell us.

Instead of doing that, use a multi-output version of Ultrabeat so that you can send individual voices to different Aux channel strip and control them individually. That will be still only one Ultrabeat instrument, so your closed hats will choke the open ones, but you'll have individual channel strips in the Mixer for each.
