How to edit event list to change the placement and length of a MIDI clip?

I want to use the Event List to edit a clip's placement and length but it doesn't seem to work. Editing events inside the clip works fine though.

 

Let's say I created an empty 1-bar clip and want to make it starts at Bar-32 and lasts for 8 bars. It can't be done from the Event List. (version 10.5.1)

You're correct.

 

Workaround: use the Event Float (Window > Show Event Float, or Option-E).

Weird, now it's working for me too. When I originally replied to this topic, it would either open the Automation Event List, or it would open a high level Event List but the region name and info would disappear the instant I attempted to edit it.

 

I suppose it's because I had opened the automation event list earlier. If you open the automation event list then close it, the Event List doesn't behave as expected:

Also, when opening EL with nothing selected in the tracks area, you see the regions, but you can't "edit" them. Selecting one will display it's content, you'll have to click that arrow..

In the Event Lists local View menu, setting "Link" to "Off" or "Same Level" seems to change the behavior to what the OP wants ?

Yes! Indeed that's another workaround for this 10.5.1 bug. On the other hand I could verify that the Event List works as expected even in Content Link mode in 10.4.8.
