10.5.1: Only hear the beats, not the music itself

Hello, I'm a total newbie at Logic. I'm using version 10.5.1. Not sure what makes this version different from others but, for any selected instrument, yamaha grand piano as an example, when playing, I could only hear the beats but not the music itself. Same problem when i tried adjusting the pitch level (clockwise or counterclockwise) or oscillator, I could not hear anything. I can hear the sound when clicking on the keyboard but if I click the play button at the top, I cannot hear the music (except for the beat) as the white vertical bar moves from left to right. I also checked "Software Monitoring" and "Auto Input Monitoring" under Customize Control Bar & Display but it didn't help. I appreciate any help. Thanks!

Thanks so much for helping, attached is the screenshot.

Briefly speaking, when I created a new track, under the Software Instrument tab, I selected Empty Channel Strip for Instrument, and clicked Create. Then, I clicked Library —> Synthesizer —> Bell —> Air Bells. Now, if I click Play at the top, I can hear tick tick tick … (not sure if I describe this sound correctly) as the white vertical bar moves from left to right but I don’t hear any music for the Air Bells itself. Also, it always shows C major at the top, it's supposed to change. Attached is the screenshot. Thanks!

I appreciate your prompt assistance!

For keyboard, I clicked Window --> Show Keyboard. However, I'm not sure how to effectively use this keyboard. I can only hit one key at a time! And I do hear the sound whenever I click a key on this keyboard provided by Logic. Do I need to connect my actual physical keyboard to the Logic software to make things work ? Sorry for my stupidity, I'm so new to all of these. Thanks again!

I was thinking about this a bit more. I suppose this may be confusing because MIDI is both a language composed of MIDI events, and also a type of cable. So while a MIDI cable is using the MIDI connectors I displayed and requires a MIDI interface to be connected to a computer (not what you want), you can nowadays use USB cables to carry the MIDI events between a MIDI Device (such as your Yamaha keyboard) and a computer.
