Roland TD25 VH11 hi hat pans drums left and right when used

Catalina 10.15.7 with logic 10.6.1. Roland TD25 connected through midi to Focusright pro 40. I set up a drum designer kit and change settings from GM to V drum in the So Cal drum kit info page. Everything works great until I use the hi hat. The drums pan hard left when its depressed and go back to hard right when I lift off the pedal. Its just a standard hi hat chain pedal with the VH-11 on it.

Midi Channel on drums is 10. Track info setting to midi channel all or channel 10 works just the same.

Any thoughts?

You have a controller assignment hijacking those foot control messages. Go to Control Surfaces > Controller Assignments, now pressing the pedal should hilight that assignment, delete it and that should be it...

Seriously thank you so much. I had a hard time articulating that issue into google and you're 1 out of 5 forums that knew what was up. I just don't use this stuff enough to find my way around it. Again, much appreciated.

As an aside, do you know why this could have occurred? I recently updated Logic and also set up Kontakt 5 with Kurt Ballou signature drums, but other than that they've been connected to logic for years. Sure enough when I brought that up and hit the pedal, "pan" came up. So strange

:D Thank you Jakob!! :D

You must have mistakenly learned the hihat pedal as a controller. This could have occured while you were trying to learn some assignments, and, while in learn mode, you pressed the pedal, or this could have occured if you pressed Command-L by mistake. In that case you may have seen the following window which indicates any controller you action will be assigned to the last parameter you clicked or dragged in Logic.

Lol. Sorry about the formatting. I meant to say you’re one user out of 5 forums I’ve ran to for help!

Thanks for the explanation. I’m guessing while running back and forth from the kit to the Mac I must have hamfisted the keyboard and pulled that menu up before using the pedal. I never knew I could be that destructive to my own workflow. Thanks to everyone for picking up the pieces!
