romaine
Hi, i can't work out why i can't get sound out of logic with my plugged in midi controller (keyboard). please can you help me check whatever i need in order to fix. i have a wire from my keyboard in the midi out socket. this leads to midi in socket in an adapter. out of this is a usb which connects to my macbook. from here I dont know what else to do. Then I create a software instrument track and when I play my keyboard nothing happens. Any suggestions?
David Nahmani
What keyboard manufacturer/model and what MIDI-USB manufacturer/model? The inexpensive no-name MIDI-USB cables are notoriously buggy, so I would recommend a decent USB MIDI Interface. I made a couple of recommendations in that post: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=156442&p=820003
romaine
Korg, Triton Le Mustic Workstation And th MIDI to USB is Carillon If we presume the equipment is fine, can you explain what I would need to check when Logic is open?
JakobP
Use this to see if your mac is receiving midi at all https://www.snoize.com/midimonitor/
romaine
I've downloaded it, opened it, open logic, connected my keyboard and pressing the keys and nothing is happening in the midi monitor app neither logic... any ideas?
JakobP
Try connecting the keyboard/cable first, then start midimonitor ? No need to start Logic yet...
romaine
Okay. Done this and no reposnse from the midi monitior. am i meant to do anything in the midi monitor when it's open?
JakobP
No, it should display what's coming in. I suspect (like David) that your usb-midi cable doesn't work. What midi keyboard is it ? EDIT Sorry I see it's a Korg...
romaine
Okay thanks. Do you recommend one?
JakobP
Not really, check out Davids suggestions earlier in the thread. I have a Roland um-one mkII and it works, but it feels easy to break, thin cables and a cheapish plastic case...
