edurbrow
Once upon a time I had a symbolic link for sounds (because I have a small startup disk and need to save space), but it got broken with an upgrade, I believe. I'm reluctant to try again. Sometimes it seems that I should have a lot more sounds than I do. For example, Logic opened a midi file with the EXS24 and used a stock sound. I assumed there would be banks of sounds, but I can't find any. I can only hit the arrow or [ ] keys. I searched in the Finder but all the EXS24 folders I found were practically empty. Thanks in advance for any solutions.
enossified
You're getting warm! The factory sounds are in Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments The factory samples are in Library/Application Support/Logic/EXS Factory Samples

For example, Alchemy has categories of sound and sub categories beyond that in the pull down menu.
JakobP
The instrument selector in EXS24 is located in the center of the gui if that's what you're asking ?
des99
So is it a case of the EXS24 just doesn't have categories in the menu? That menu is the plugin settings menu. The EXS doesn't really have plugin settings content, which would just be the same as loading the raw instruments. Most of the sampler instrument content is either sampler instruments, or complete channel strips/patches (which contain both the sampled instrument, and associated FX plugin and settings.) enossified
As des99 wrote, in the other Library/Application Support/Logic/Plug-In Settings folders, there are .pst files (some in categorized subfolders, some not) for most of the plugins, except for Alchemy which uses .acp files rather than .pst files. But EXS24 has none. The Alchemy categories can be seen in Library/Application Support/Logic/Plug-In Settings/Alchemy:

Come to think of it, I remember there's a "reindex instrument library" or similar in that instrument selector ?

Yes, there was, mainly to refresh the menu if you've placed new content in there while Logic was running (the sampler instruments are scanned and the menu built when Logic first runs).
