[FIXED] Airwindows on Big Sur: sliders stopped working!

Anyone have any luck getting sliders to work using Airwindows plugins in Logic on Big Sur?

If you don't know, these are high-sound-quality, "default UI" Au plugins from https://airwindows.com

It's one guy making brilliant, unique stuff.

Unfortunately, since I upgraded to Big Sur, all the sliders have stopped working in Logic only (they work fine in Renoise and, from other reports I've seen, other DAWs)--it's just Logic that seems to have a problem; my experience is the same as indicated by this person:

Unfortunately Chris, the Airwindows developer, says it's not his code, but a bug introduced by Apple:

I use these plugins all the time and would be very sad to see them broken by a change in default behaviour by Apple.

I've posted to the Logic feedback form asking that they fix this. Is there anything else to do but wait?

You mean the "controls" view? That's a decent workaround I suppose. I don't think it has the same granularity as the sliders, though I could be wrong. The weird part to me is that this *only* happens in Logic; these are AU, which is, after all, Apple's own standard. One would think they'd support it in their own flagship DAW.

The other odd thing to me about this is: other "old school" default UI plugins I have (mda ring mod, for example) sliders work fine in Logic under Big Sur. Without seeing the code I couldn't guess what the issue is.

Either way, hope it gets fixed.

...yup, controls...not sure about the granularity thing in that you can enter values to the hundredth place in the text entry field. Apple has an AU standard interface, but they are not "responsible" for how 3rd partly developers implement/instantiate it. I'm sure Chris will figure it out when he gets around to it...love the stuff he does.../s~

Sure, but the point of a slider is you can nudge it a bit and see if you like the results, and so on. If I wanted to be typing all my params re fx I wouldn’t be using Logic, I’d be coding in Renoise (where, ironically, the Airwindows sliders continue to work), Supercollider etc ;) For now I can either type as you point out, or click on the text entry field in the controls view and drag it up and down sort of like a slider—but this is, you’ll forgive me, a “drag.”

Of course. I hope nothing I’ve said implies otherwise.

I certainly hope so. That post of his I linked to seems to imply the problem is the DAW environment no longer provides info to the sliders that it used to. He seems to be saying it’s not something he can fix, hence my concern. At any rate, you’re right; either it’ll get fixed or it won’t. I love what Chris does too, so I’m hoping it does.
