M1 Compatible Audio Plugins

I had lots of CPU warnings until I changed the # of cores settings from "Auto" to "all 10 cores" in logic settings. Has anyone else had to fool with this setting?

Was Logic the only program running when you changed this setting? I weirdly experienced it the other way around, I got pops and crackles when I switched to all 10 cores and all was going smoothly on "Auto". I suspect that this was because I had a bunch of smaller programs running in the background which then had to fight for resources with Logic once I had set it to all 10 cores.

nothing much else running, but I didn't try any of the in between settings yet. Just weird that the auto setting had so much trouble keeping up to the point of being unusable. This shouldn't be the case on a 16" max with 64gb ram and plenty of disk space. Didn't seem to matter whether Rosetta mode or not.

Yeah that sounds strange. I can report that even large projects run smoothly on my 16-inch M1 Max with 64 GB memory, both in native and Rosetta mode.

What are you referring to?

The thing that they are incompatible with rosetta, says in the first post.

The first post lists the pug-ins as not supported. "Not supported" does not mean incompatible. It means only that the manufacturer does not support it officially. That happens when he has not tested it, or when he has tested it and found that it didn't work properly (sometimes only in some conditions).

An update for IK Multimedia...

"Most IK products are compatible with M1 macOS systems using Rosetta 2" - see official statement and full list of support products here - https://www.ikmultimedia.com/faq/index.php?id=1412. The only software product of theirs I can't see listed here is SampleTron.

On top of that, IK have stated on their forum that MODO DRUM is M1 native - https://cgi.ikmultimedia.com/ikforum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=27331#p122928.

Thank you! I've added those two listings.

Antares plugins are now supported under Rosetta 2 - https://antarestech.force.com/s/article/Compatibility-with-Apple-Silicon-M1

Thanks! I added them.

Hi there!

It's Pulsar Audio

We have some updates for you. Could be awesome if you add this please :)

Apple Silicon M1 support - We now support Apple Silicon (M1) computers natively. The specific optimization for these processors allows you to take full advantage of the speed of the new M1-based MacBooks and Mac Minis, without relying on the Rosetta compatibility layer.

Thank you!

Sean

Added Pulsar Audio to the list, thanks!

Thanks, added Eventide to the list.

And iZotope provides Rosetta 2 support for almost all plugins now:

https://support.izotope.com/hc/en-us/articles/4407777831699-iZotope-Compatibility-with-Apple-silicon

Added iZotope to the list, thanks!

Almost all Izotope products now running with rosetta compatibility

Ozone and Rx 8 and 9 already updated

https://support.izotope.com/hc/en-us/articles/4407777831699-iZotope-Compatibility-with-Apple-silicon

Thanks Marc! Do you have an official link that clearly states that Ozone and RX are M1 Native, if that's what you meant?

You could add Plogue Bidule to the M1 native list. Classic audio tool, plugin version --> Logic.

https://www.plogue.com/products/bidule.html

Done! Thank you.

Native Instruments supports Rosetta for all plugs also:

https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015663878-Apple-Silicon-M1-macOS-11-Big-Sur-Compatibility-News

(...)

And maybe change "Waves" To "Waves version 12 and older", cause Version 13 is Native compatible

Thanks for the list!!

Ok done I added N.I. and removed Waves from not supported since v13 is listed as M1 Native. Thanks!

Polyverse. Just bought Manipulator today and it works flawlessly.

https://polyversemusic.com/docs/are-polyverse-plugins-compatible-with-macos-big-sur/

I'm having a hard time finding libraries that are natively M1 compatible so I really appreciate the work you're doing here.

Great, you're welcome! :) Thanks for participating and helping build the list. I added Polyverse.

Updates for all Klanghelm plugins, added native Apple Silicon (M1) support

All Klanghelm plugins are now running natively on Apple Silicon (M1).

Thanks, I added them.

Just wanted to confirm that all IK Multimedia plugins are working and compatible through Rosetta 2 and The MODO drums are Apple Silicon native.

Got the the new M1 Pro 14" few days a go and installed and tried all of them.

Great, good to hear, thank you: I just added them to their respective lists.

Thanks! I added Soundtoys to the Rosetta list.

Gullfoss has been running very well under Rosetta from the start. But as of yesterday, there is a new Apple Silicon native build (version 1.11.0) that is optimized for M1/M1max/M1pro and runs on Monterey without any known issues. https://www.soundtheory.com/support/

Great, adding Gullfoss now, thanks.

IK has added Sampletank 4 to native, as well as their new Syntronik 2. I can confirm Sampletank 4 is native, and runs quite a lot better than it did. Again, can't find it on IK's site, but it's done.

Thank you Glenn, and yes it's a little known fact that a native plug-in runs MUCH more efficiently than one under Rosetta, hence the importance of plug-ins being ported to native M1 code and not just stated as "compatible" (when really they need to be translated under Rosetta).

I'm adding those to the list.

The update for Sampletank is available in the IK Product Manager. I just installed ST4 on my new machine yesterday, wasn't native yet, update showed up today. Works fine.

Great, thank you for the confirmation.

Vengeance Sound Avenger 1.8 is M1 Native but no news or mention on site yet.

However it is available to download when you log in to Avenger user account.

Thank you ozinga, I added it to the list.

Talking about IK, I’ve just found a more official announcement of MODO Drum M1 native support and Rosetta support for everything else - https://www.ikmultimedia.com/news/?item_id=11131

Thanks however that links to their (broad) "All News" category, not a specific article. Moreover there are now 2 more M1 native IK Multimedia products so I'm assuming the article you're referring to may be older? Otherwise I'll have some fact checking to do.... :D

Update From Softube (Change log for 2.5.24 Released on November 16th, 2021):

"Softube plug-ins should now perform better on Mac M1 computers using Rosetta mode. Please note that full M1 compatibility is still pending" - https://www.softube.com/support/change-log/2-5-24

Thanks, adding Softube to the Rosetta 2 list.

Strange - that link takes me directly to the specific news article (the ?item_id=11131 part of the URL should do this).

But yes, this is from July 1st so doesn't take into account the newly added SampleTank and Syntronik native support. But I mentioned it because it's a lot more official (or more up to date) than the previous links we've found.

Ok thanks, i'll look for the article. I don't know why the ?id number isn't working for me, it just takes me to the same news page as if I didn't have the ?id number afterwards. I'll try to sort this out. Thanks a lot for the info, I appreciate it!

Oh I finally got it! I had their website (automatically) set up to the French version, where that id didn't work. If I switch to the English version of the site then the link works. Ok so I'll add it then. Thanks!

2C audio is "mostly" compatible under Rosetta. There are some issues with preset saving, and authorization (reading from clipboard is blocked by the system). The authorization issue should be solved within 2-3 weeks of the time of this post. M1 native compatibility is being worked on, there is no ETA, because they have to rewrite their vector code. This was in a response from Denis in an email I sent him asking about Rosetta/Native compatibility.
