JBberg
Hi, I'm editing drums in Logic for the first time and when I paste hits they disappear behind the original region. When I 'Join' they're not there. What am I missing here? Thanks JB
grubmanus
I'd recommend setting your drag mode to 'No Overlap' (in the upper right, just above the bars/beats ruler). This will operate more like Pro Tools if that's where you're coming from.

grubmanus
Cool. There's also Edit->Trim->Remove Overlaps to correct any existing edits that got made in Overlap mode. Just be sure to select the regions you actually want to keep before hitting that, as Logic will just wipe whatever is visually hidden behind your selection. JBberg
Excellent, thanks. Is there a close gaps feature too?
grubmanus
Yep, they're all in those Edit->Trim functions. See 'Trim Region Start to Previous Region' and 'Trim Region End to Next Region'. If you peruse those other Edit menus (Trim, Move, Split, etc) you should see all the familiar stuff you'd need. Also FYI, you can go to Logic Pro X->Key Commands->Presets and choose the Pro Tools preset to make all your shortcuts match Tools if you're actually coming from that world (as many people do). Or you can just make your own custom shortcuts.
