Logique
Hi. I don't know how to prevent Logic 10.7.2 to start reproducing when I hit C2 on my Alesis QX61 midi master keyboard. I already resetted both logic's key commands preferences and the QX61 itself. I checked every single key command that mention the word "play". The QX61 is not configured as a control surface. In fact, I haven't any control surface configured. Any suggestion welcome.
des99
Try Logic -> Control Surfaces -> Bypass All Control Surfaces - does this stop the behaviour?
Logique
Yes, it does. But the problem is that my few customized key commands aren't recognized anymore. Anyway, thanks, des99.
des99
Ok, that means you've learned the C2 note to the play command. You can unbypass the control surfaces again, that was just a troubleshooting step to check where the problem was. Look in the controller assignments window for that assignment, and delete it. If you don't know how to do this, you can delete the CS prefs file, com.apple.logic.pro.cs in your home library preferences folder - but you'll be throwing away any other customised assignments you've made by doing this, so it's better to find that assignment you don't want, and delete it. Solution Logique Posted February 23, 2022 Author Solution Share Posted February 23, 2022 I found the guilty. Weird: if I assign the first pad of the four existing on the Alesis to "record repeat", the mentionned problem occurs. Kinda some strange midi confusion between Alesis and Apple or... who knows... Thank you very much for your help, des99.
des99
The Alesis is probably sending a C2 note from that pad, the same as if you pressed the keyboard - hence the behaviour. There's confusion, you've just said to Logic: "when you receive a C2 on the Alesis MIDI port, run this command." There's no distinction between a C2 sent from the pad, and one sent from the keyboard - it's the exact same MIDI message. If you can customise the MIDI messages the pads send, then you can distinguish them - eg by MIDI channel etc, so that command only runs from a message from the pad, and not the keyboard. Logique
Sure. But I prefer not to spend more time investigating midi conflicts and make some music instead. Again, I appreciate very much your help. Cheers!

Kinda some strange midi confusion between Alesis and Apple or... who knows.... That pad likely defaults to C2, pretty common with drum pads. That's where the bass drum is in the General MIDI spec.
