ColbyKeyz
Hi im trying to bounce stems for a client but when I bounce them they didnt include the plugins on my stereo out. Ive been looking everywhere online but cant find a solution. Surely there has to be a solution for such an obvious problem. Thanks!
David Nahmani
The first challenge associated with that workflow is that if you're using dynamic plug-ins such as compressors or limiters on the stereo out, then the sum of the processed tracks will not yield the same result as the processed sum of the tracks. Meaning that if the client sums the processed stems they will not get the same result as your mix in Logic Pro. Here is one older discussion on the topic: Bouncing stems with mastering processing
fuzzfilth
The plugins on the Stereo Out are downstream from the point where you bounce the stems, therefore the stems know nothing about your Stereo Out processing. There's a couple ways to solve this. 1. - Solo the Aux or Track Stack containing the stem, then Bounce that stem - Repeat for all stems to get stems with FX - Don't yell at me for proposing repetitive tasks 2. - Put any summing FX not on the Stereo Out but on the stem's Aux or Track Stack - Route the Aux or Track Stack to another Bus - Select that Bus as the input of another Track - Repeat for all stems - Save as Template - Record all stems to their new tracks in realtime in one go to get stems with FX - Don't yell at me for having to set up a Template for this 3. - Open the Environment - Select local New>Channel Strip>Bus - Set it to the Bus that carries your stem - Put any summing FX not on the Stereo Out but on that Bus Object - In the Main Window, put an empty MIDI Region on the Aux's or Track Stack's Track - Repeat for all stems - Save this as a Template - Bounce In Place all these MIDI Regions to get stems with FX - Don't yell at me for having to go to the Environment. Now, be aware that Send FX must be kept separate between stems, else you'll end up with the vocal reverb on the drum stem. Also, dynamic plugins will react differently on individual stems vs all together. Don't yell at me for that either In short - don't yell at me.
