Latency caused by deleted plug-ins on master bus?!

Hi everyone,

I'm having a session in progress on a song for a band, and when I've previously bounced versions of the song for the band I've had Ozone 9 Elements on the Output channel just to have a louder and more even feeling of it.

Right now I have to record more tracks on the song, and I've reset the stereo out-channel since I've been experiencing latency issues with plug ins on the stereo out channel before, nothing strange about that. But even though there is nothing on there, I'm getting lots of latency, and it shouldn't be considering my specs and considering there's almost only audio files in the project. I've tried everything: different buffer sizes, low latency mode, no plugins on the track I'm recording on. Totally impossible to record. The only thing I can think of is that it's because of the plugins that has been on the master bus, but isn't anymore. Right now I'm only using the built in headphone-jack and recording some backing vocals-ideas with the built in microphone, but can't do it due to the latency. I'm losing my mind here, am I missing something really easy? Does anyone know what to do?

Make sure you quit Logic and reopen it in order to reset the core audio engine.

Yeah, tried that too several times. I connected an external audio interface (Behringer UMC22) and It worked with Low Latency Mode on, but when it's bypassed it's still latency even though I run at buffer size 128. As far as I can see, there's no plug in bypassed when Low Latency Mode is on either, I can still have listen with effects from CLA Vocals, so I'm not quite sure what's going on?

Bypassing (as in turning a plug-in off) does not remove its latency. You have to use Low Latency Mode or actually remove the plug-in from the slot. That's the expected behavior.

Yes thanks, I'm aware of that. What I'm wondering is if the latency could have something to do with the fact that there has been plug-ins on the master bus in the project? There is none right now, but I started experiencing the latency after I put on (and then removed) the plug ins from the master bus.

If a plugin is removed, it no longer reports latency to Logic, and its effect will be removed.

It's possible that you have other plugins on busses etc causing latency. You can hover your mouse over the plugin inserts to see the latency each plugin is reporting to Logic.

Normally, no, however I've seen weird behavior with latency such as latency remaining even after removing a plug-in, in fact I've even seen cases of latency increasing even after removing plug-ins. However all of that was always 100% resolved by restarting Logic. So if you still get latency even after a restart then that means there are plug-ins somewhere else that are creating the latency, as des99 just pointed out.
