fisherking
there used to be a great app called Myriad to do that; it's long gone. but now, this: https://support.apple.com/guide/logicpro/create-your-own-apple-loops-lgcp1de12b57/mac
Danny Wyatt
As the Apple Loops Utility is no longer available are there any 3rd party softwares which will batch convert wave loops to Apple loops? Ditch Apple Loops and Logic's loop browser. That thing sucks...! Check out Loopcloud. It's free (or $6 a month if you want the extra features, which you probably won't need) and it's amazing. Even the algorithm they use to compress/stretch the audio is way better than Logic's. You don't have to worry about converting files or anything. Add tags to each loop (or sample), create custom searches that you can then save, etc. It's a great tool and their customer support is amazing! (maybe i'm just missing it....)

I think they should have it more clear on the website that the app is free to use, because maybe they are missing on potential customers by only showing the plans. I will send them an email and suggest that. I've been in touch with them because of some issues so they already know who I am haha
Danny Wyatt
Thanks Does Loop Cloud batch convert your existing wave files to Apple Loops? The good thing is that with Loopcloud you don't need to convert anything to Apple Loops. As long as the files have the proper length, Loopcloud will analyze them, add the right bpm, sometimes even the key, the type of instrument, etc

You're welcome I love Loopcloud. It's such a powerful tool, even if you only use the free version. For most "daily" work, the free version offers everything we need. My only "issue" with it is that it's a standalone app and it connects to Logic via a plugin they created, so you can only use 1 instance per project, but you have 2 tracks per instance. With the paid version you have 8, you can save projects, have effects, etc, but if we consider that Logic's loop browser also works the same way, meaning you have to drag the loop into your project, it's pretty much the same thing, but Loopcloud is way better with the tags and all that. If you tag all your loops and sample properly, you can for example create custom searches such as "all Snares with the tag Dubstep, tag Crisp" etc. The sky is (not) the limit. Nunstummy
Good Insight and it's greatly appreciated! I've had Loopcloud for about 3 months and it's great, but I haven't fully committed to moving all my sample/loop libraries into it. I had been using ADSR Sample Manager for features beyond Logic's Loop Browser, as my collection of mostly free samples and loops had grown (160GB - maybe that's small compared to some, but I try to just keep useful stuff). Don't get me wrong, the Logic Loop Browser is pretty good with untagged loops and I still like it too. Ideally, I was looking to get all my assets in one place that I could access from my MacBook, or iPad. Loopcloud doesn't have an iOS plugin or app, but it works just fine with a browser. Couple questions: - do you use the LoopCloud 'cloud' storage? {my 50% off subscription includes 50GB} - will Loopcloud prevent you from adding certain vendor loop packs - say from ADSR or Splice? - I'm using XO, Playbeat and some other drum samplers that require the loops & samples to be stored on a local SSD or HD. Same is true for Logic Drum Machine Designer. I found the LoopCloud library buried in ~/library/loopcloud/library/... Have you ever had a need to move that library to a different location?
FLH3
I use both free Loopcloud and free ADSR. ADSR has the advantage to be a "real" plugin, not a plugin for communicating with the app. I've instaled free Cosmos (from Waves) as well but I don't realy use it, actualy. I was going to try Cosmo as well, but based on some YouTube reviews I determined it was less capable than the free ADSR Sample Manager. Still, neither Cosmo nor ADSR have an iOS app making it difficult to achieve my goal of 1 sample manager for everything. At least Loopcloud works consistently through an iOS browser - I guess that’s the advantage of a server-side app versus a complete client plugin. Frankly, Loopcloud has some great concepts with its 8 track mixer and key and tempo changes, before you commit to buying the samples or loops. It’s a good sample editor, rather than making these adjustments in your DAW. I suspect there are some creators without a client DAW making music just inside Loopcloud. sunbrother
I personally like Waves COSMOS, though I have only limited experience with LoopCloud and ADSR Sample Manager. Waves COSMOS is definitely less developed than the others as far as tagging and organization go. Where it makes up for it for me is that I find myself not having to use tagging and organization as much with it because its ability to find similar samples or loops seems much better than the others'. I use these tools for occasional sample browsing only, so I'm not the best to judge the capabilities of them. Furthermore I never use sampled musical phrases/long complex loops in my works. At max I find an ambiance/athmospheric long drone I load in EXS/Sampler in order to twist and chop it at my taste. And I don't have any ipad or modern phone so I don't realy care about "ios", so far.
