tommyq94
Hey everyone, I have an RD-6 with MIDI OUT cable from RD-6 hooked up to MIDI IN of Audio interface, and I have the Audio cable from RD-6 into channel 3 in Audio interface. I can hear the RD-6 audio in Logic Pro when I play it on the drum machine itself but I want to be able to click in MIDI in Logic Pro with sounds from the RD-6. I think i have it set up using the external instrument option in Logic? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Solution des99 Posted March 14, 2022 Solution Share Posted March 14, 2022 You’d need to connect a cable from the computer’s MIDI OUT to the drum machines MIDI IN.
tommyq94
Great that worked, I made that out to be more complicated than it actually was! Thanks

tommyq94
Im now having difficulty actually recording the MIDI part into Logic. I can only record it as audio isnt that right? When I press record it doesnt show any audio being recorded, it just plays the MIDI again?
des99
You'll need to be specific as to what you're doing. If your device is hooked up via MIDI *and* audio cables, then you can choose to record MIDI (not audio), or audio (not MIDI), or even both at once. MIDI and audio are completely different things, so if you can tell me what you are trying to do, and how you're doing it, I can try to help. tommyq94
I am currently able to click in the pattern in the Logic Sequencer which RD-6 then plays back. I then want to record that pattern into Logic as Audio, as when I disconnect the RD-6 it is silent.
des99
How are you routing the audio output of the RD-6? Assuming the audio is coming back into Logic, set an audio track to the input your drums are coming in on, and record it as audio.
