Hi I try to send a selected clip not the whole clip using a AAF audio format from Logic RX 8 using this

I found this https://support.izotope.com/hc/en-us/articles/360032594914-How-to-use-RX-as-an-audio-file-editor-with-Logic-Pro-X

So now in Logic RX and Logic can talk got that working

But when I am

here is what the teacher says "K, you are sending to much of the file to RX, there should be a setting where you can only send the piece you have selected.

"It would be a setting in Logic as you are sending the entire clip instead of the selected clip.

I hope this make sense Thanks

It's not very clear (to me) what you are experiencing. Can you post screenshots to make it easier?

OK I was sent a Movie file and an AAF audio file to sync up with a movie in Logic

here screenshot

Now as You can see I have that clip selected but when I do Shift w to open up RX 8 Standard the select clip does not open up in RX what opens up in RX is the whole clip where I can hear the director talking to the actress

what settings do I need to change in Logic to be able to just get the selected clip as shown in the screenshot to open up properly in RX?

OK what you're experiencing is the expected behavior because you're opening the audio file that the region points to in a 3rd party audio editor. The region exists only in your Logic Pro project that only Logic Pro can read, the region doesn't exist in the Finder and other software do not have access to that data.

So what you need to do is create a new audio file only for that region: Control-click the region in Logic and choose Convert > Convert to New Audio File(s).

Then press Shift-W.

That's awesome David but before I do that should make a copy of the audio I am going to convert first on another track and then convert that copy?

No, there's no need. When you convert your region to a new audio file, the current audio file is left intact on your hard drive. The region now refers to the new shorter audio file. This is a non-destructive process.

Of course I do encourage you to have full offline backups of your entier Logic Project with all audio files, should anything go wrong! Always. ;)

Now since file override in RX will that change my setting in Logic or the converted copy? sorry this is all new David

guess the question do I need to bring in that convert copy back into Logic or is it already changed the settings of the audio from RX back into Logic?

If you're doing destructive audio editing on the audio file then there's no need to bring anything back into Logic, since you've changed the audio file that Logic is reading, you'll hear the changed sound.
