Chipp Tate
Before I post a question I try to search it to avoid wasting your time to see if it's been answered before. But what I get are results where some of the search terms are dropped, or ones that aren't vaguely related because the results include all of the terms, but not in the order submitted. Since this goes back 15+ years it's becoming obvious that it's quicker to figure out the problem on my own than spend hours plowing thru results I can't use - or just submit the question and not search it in the first place. Is there a way to improve search results I'm not aware of?
David Nahmani
Can you share the specific example of the search query you're trying to perform?
Chipp Tate
Sure, thanks for the quick reply! A recent one was "delete effects on channel", without the quotes, where on channel was dropped. It's usually, but not always the last word or two, and seems to happen regardless of the length of the term, meaning it will drop the second one of a two word search. des99
It's sometimes not the best search facility here, but an alterntive method if you're not finding what you want is to search the site via google, which has a lot more effort put into it's search technology. Go to google and search for, eg: "site://logicprohelp.com delete effects on channel", and you might get better results that way...
Chipp Tate
Uh yeah... I've seen Logic Pro results on Google before, I know how to do exact word searches, and I should have thought of that. Thanks, des99!

I just gave it a try and the last two words are not ignored? Here are some of the top results for that search without the quotes, and you can see the words "on" and "channel" being highlighted: it will drop the second one of a two word search. Again if you can share a specific example? Because it's not my experience here. I just tried a few searches like "score editing", or "microphone direction", or "piano roll" etc.. and every time both words are taken into account to filter the search results. Chipp Tate
I've attached a couple of screen shots to show what I'm seeing below Search Query where it says: "ignored: channel on" and ignored: "tracks". It sounds like that's not happening for you.
David Nahmani
Ok I see what you mean now. The same is happening to me however it still highlights the words in the results if they're part of the search. Basically the search engine indexing ignores words that are too common such as "logic", "track", "channel", "on", "the", "and", "audio" etc... because otherwise the search index would quickly become so bloated as to virtually become unusable. So you have to try to find words that are descriptive of your issue but not too common if at all possible. Otherwise as des99 suggested, add "site:logicprohelp.com" to any Google search terms to use Google's powerful search engine to search only our website. Chipp Tate
OK, thanks to both of you for chasing that down and explaining. Doing the search on Google really is far more efficient for what I'm used to doing. After dse99 suggested that I searched "Logic Pro delete effects on channel" and found the answer I needed at the top of the list from https://support.apple.com/guide/logicpro/add-remove-move-and-copy-plug-ins-lgcpbc218a22/mac, and just above https://support.apple.com/guide/logicpro/add-remove-move-and-copy-plug-ins-lgcpbc218a22/mac. Thanks Again!

Thanks Again! Good to hear! Just to clarify though des99's idea was that you enter "site:logicprohelp.com" as a search term in addition to your other search terms in Google so that you can use Google to search this forum. In any case, do not hesitate to ask a question again, even if it's already been asked in the past. If we can find it we'll link to it in an answer for you, and if we can't then we'll just answer it directly. That's not a problem.
Chipp Tate
I understood des99's suggestion and I will remember "site:logicprohelp.com" narrows the search to the Logic Pro forums. I also know you and the rest of the moderators and members of this community are there to help and I will not wait long to ask if I need to, especially now that I'm able to help myself as well as I can before doing that. I think that's a responsibility we all have to make this work best for everyone involved.
David Nahmani
Definitely, I agree with you, and I really appreciate it! And sorry I wasn't sure if you understood the Google search operator trick.
