StrangeNameMedia
Doing Bass for song that has multiple tempos. In a perfect world I'd be able to use the hundreds of markers LPX has put in but bc of the varying Tempo LPX just slaps on a ton of unnecessary flex markers where there is no need for any. For whatever reason when I reset or "remove all markers" from my track (So I can manually insert them as I please" LPX decides to keep the ones in my pre chorus (where there is a tempo build from 162bpm to 178bpm over about 8 bars) Tried everything from hitting the orange button in the sample window to selecting a marker and hitting reset. Turning off "follow" simply takes away my option to apply any flex even manually and if I turn it back on it simply always drops those hundred or so flex markers in my pre chorus. Another strange issue, is even when I painstakingly remove every single marker by hand (which took an eternity) it leaves some weird knocking or low end popping sound where the hundreds of markers where. Could really use some help with this. Sorry in advance if this is a dumb question.
David Nahmani
Those are tempo markers. They are there because you have tempo changes in those locations. You can control-click one of the tempo markers and choose Delete Flex Marker. Also see: Logic automatically adding flex markers that I don't want! My issue is that with or without whatever they are, they cause artifacting as soon as I select flex. A little popping when they are there, and a lot when I remove them but, I guess I have no choice but to have them there if I choose to use Logic. Unfortunate. Having things constantly move, warp, shift & add themselves in Logic seems like 90% of the complaints I see. Really wish LPX had a manual mode far far away from any "Smart" options. Maybe just me. Thanks for the help

A little popping when they are there, and a lot when I remove them but, I guess I have no choice but to have them there if I choose to use Logic. Unfortunate. Indeed that's frustrating. I guess it's challenging for Logic Pro to record over tempo changes and then use Flex Time. Having things constantly move, warp, shift & add themselves in Logic seems like 90% of the complaints I see. To be fair, many of those complaints are due to a misunderstanding of the tools being used. Really wish LPX had a manual mode far far away from any "Smart" options. Maybe just me. It's not just you, you're definitely not alone with that wish. However that is possible. In this case, Flex is the "smart" option you're trying to use, that generates the tempo markers it needs when recording audio over tempo changes and then enabling Flex. If you don't use Flex, you can continue performing all the manual editing you wish without any tempo or flex markers. So I agree that as soon as you're using a smart feature, it may do things that are beyond your control and that weren't exactly what you had in mind, however you can always turn off the smart feature and work manually. Another example of this is if you use Drummer to generate a drum pattern : the virtual drummer may not play exactly what you want and you may not be able to edit it exactly the way you want with the limited controls in the Drummer editor. However you can convert the smart Drummer regions to dumb MIDI regions and edit them manually to your heart's content with total control. StrangeNameMedia
Quick update: I was able to get most of the popping sound out by cutting out the "Tempo Ramp" region of the bass out, pasting it to a separate track (with proper fades) and switching over to Poly for the flex. Doesn't sound quite as natural or as good but the only option I really have without being locked out of not being able to use Flex at all. Definitely looking around for a DAW with a fully manual option for future projects but...Sometimes it's the small wins.
