amsolo73
Hi, I can't figure out something pretty simple I think. In Logic Pro X, let's say I have a midi piano instrument track. I record my take and I am not sure I want to use it. I want to mute my recording but then press play on the overall song and practice another take. But I can't seem to figure out how to mute my prior recording and then be able to play over the overall song practicing on that same piano track. If I mute my prior recording, I can't hear myself practicing on that same track. If any quick advice, I would be grateful.

David Nahmani
There area a few different workflow that you can use for that goal: 1. Choose Logic Pro > Preferences > Recording and in the MIDI column, click the pop-up menu for example under 'Cycle Off' and choose Create Take Folders. 2. Record over the existing performance, you won't hear the old take as you record a new one. 3. If you don't want to keep the new recording, press Command-Z to discard it. OR 1. Choose Track > Other > New Track with Same Instrument, 2. Select the region on the first track and choose Control-M to mute the region.
