deckstatic
Hi- I migrated my Logic sessions to a new Macbook Pro (and am all updated on software) but now, when I record midi (not audio) it always starts recording on the four count click in. I can't find a setting to prevent this, any advice? Thanks!

deckstatic
Thanks, but it's the same issue on multiple sessions...
David Nahmani
it always starts recording on the four count click in I'm not sure what you mean by that? Is the click itself recorded?
deckstatic
No, the one bar that the click is in is recorded, and 50% of the time, that's ALL that's recorded. To be clearer, every time (with midi), the "count in" bar is recorded and only half of the time is what follows that, recorded.
David Nahmani
Hmm that's an unusual issue! What if you test this out with no count-in at all? Can you record anything?
deckstatic
It seems to record fine w/o the count-in. I'm not sure why the count-in is recording (when used) & how I turn that off.

As far as I know in MIDI the count-in is always recorded with regular recording. Instead, you could create a Marquee selection beforehand to highlight the area you want to record, then press R. The count-in will not be recorded.
deckstatic
Okay, thanks for the advice. I don't know why this problem started w/ the new laptop; I wish there was an easy way to solve the issue...
David Nahmani
The part that doesn't make sense is that Logic would stop recording after the count-in? Does Logic stay in Record mode? I would click the little arrow to the right in the LCD display and choose Custom to see a MIDI input activity monitor, see if it continues seeing the incoming MIDI events as you play your keyboard when it's no longer recording? deckstatic
No, it keeps "recording" put the box is empty, no notes record at all and as soon as I hit the bar to stop recording, the bars that I was recording disappear but the blank count-in is still there. I took a video of it but I don't see a place to post it here.

You can post animated .gif files here such as the ones you create with LiceCap: https://www.cockos.com/licecap/ For videos you have to post them on YouTube, then you can embed them here with your post. deckstatic
Okay- here's the Youtube link: I'm playing midi keyboard notes the whole time.
David Nahmani
So I don't see any beams indicating notes are being recorded? Try this: choose Logic Pro > Control Surfaces > Bypass All Control Surfaces. Now try again?
deckstatic
Okay, I'm not at my studio now, I will try later- thanks!
