Norfolkandchance
Hi all. First time poster here. Sorry if I’ve got any conventions wrong. I did do a search on my question to see if had come up before but either my searching is plop or it’s not been posited in this way. anyway, I have a Mac mini 2011 bought back three years ago with a new ssd and lost the horrendous spinning drive that was in it. Obvs within this configuration there is room for another super ssd or a thunderbolt exterbal ssd as well. I’m maxing out the ram to 16gb which will arrive later tomorrow. At present it runs ok but audio takes sometimes overload the machine. will the ram make difference ? if not, will it run MainStage ok for gig use do folks think ? mainly though I am Interested in folks who’ve experience in running older machines with logic successfully. Or am I going to have to go M1 route. (already have peripherals for another mini) and have a 2020 20,1 max 27” with 32gb for multitrack projects with sample heavy features (that’s mostly my son) but I don’t want to lug that about to practice and stuff as it’s clearly a bit more vulnerable valuable etc etc thanks in advance 🙏
Solution David Nahmani Posted April 29, 2022 Solution Share Posted April 29, 2022 12 hours ago, Norfolkandchance said: mainly though I am Interested in folks who’ve experience in running older machines with logic successfully. First, welcome to Logic Pro Help! Hope you like it around here. 😃 I can share my experience using Logic Pro on a mid-2013 MacBook Air and it's working like a champ. As for your Mac mini, if it runs whatever is needed for the gig reliably at home and during rehearsals, then it will run fine during the gig. It's all about experimenting with your specific needs and see how well your Mac handles them.
