ba6035472
Hi all I saw some old threads from 2007 and 2013 about muting and its effect on CPU. Saw an answer about a setting under Audio > General > CPU saving mode, but it's no longer in the latest version of Logic. I ask this because I have multiple tracks that I am trying out alternative plugin chains for vocal tracking, and I wonder if I mute the track it will already automatically save on CPU or do I need to bypass them all. I also saw from an old thread about the difference between muting a track and muting a region, and muting a region was said to be 'more' CPU saving. Is this still the case in the latest version? What about turning the whole track off as in Opt+M on a track, is that more effective yet? Thank you all!
Solution des99 Posted May 13, 2022 Solution Share Posted May 13, 2022 There’s a Power button on tracks which behaves as the old CPU saving mute mode. Configure the track header if you want those buttons visible on each track.

As des99 hinted, the "CPU Saving Mode" for the Mute button was turned into the On/Off button in more recent Logic versions. It's really the same thing with a new (more elegant) interface. Rather than having to go into your preferences to choose a different mode, you have a different button available for your track headers. In order to see the button you can either: Select a track and press Option-M (which displays the button and turns the track off), or Press Option-T to configure the track headers, and select the On/Off checkbox.
